JLF Trash Bag Handbag Campaign
When a child is removed from the home in police protective custody (and often in subsequent moves within the system), often their belongings are put in trash bags. JLF raised money for duffel bags and essential items such as clothing, journals, and comfort items. These bags were distributed to Whaley Center for Children, Ennis Children's Center or The Foster Closet of Michigan-Genesee County Branch in Clio. Funds were collected through this webpage as well as cash / checks (made out to Junior League of Flint) mailed to our PO Box.
How you can help:
1. Join us! Swap your purse for a grocery sack for the week of October 18-24, 2020. Be open to engaging people in conversation about your bag and how we are raising funds for area children, especially ones in foster care. Junior League of Flint is committed to combatting child abuse and help foster children in our community.
2. Further the conversation. Post your own photos using the hashtag #FlintTrashBagHandbag. Our members will be helping promote the campaign in traditional and social media. Like, comment, and share!
3. Donate to the campaign and help us get duffel bags in the hands of kids in Genesee County. These children deserve more than trash bags; the campaign strives to be a tangible way we can uplift and empower children in crisis. All donations made via this page will be allocated to this project.
